After Germany buddy Pam and I headed to “Ireland. Pam was tour leader, teaching photography and I a participant. The scenery was awesome. The color green was everywhere even early in May. A little nippy in the mornings and some rain but all-in-all the weather was very accommodating. Didn’t quite understand this fascination with green and Ireland but I certainly do now. The green was predominant and calming.

For this quilter the textures and colors were everywhere. These were nets on a boat in the harbor. Must have taken a dozen photos of this boat. I use my photos as inspiration for color and quilts after I get home.

Wonderful inspiration. Key is to open your eyes and mind to it. We are soooo lucky to have the wonderful camera’s we have today. It’s nothing to take 900 photos in a day, go home and delete the ones that didn’t turn out and enjoy the ones that are left. Sure couldn’t do that in the days of film processing when every photo had to count to justify the expense of printing.

This spring I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Germany. Not as I had many times before, not to visit family and friends, but as a quilter. Visiting the wonderful shop in Krefeld owned by the Claudia Pfeil, amazing award winning long-arm quilter – Quilt and Co. Pam Holland was the long awaited featured teacher and I, the assistant and sometimes interpreter. What a dream job this was, great food, happy students, super staff, being with BFF Pam, and a super hostess Claudia. She even gave me some long-arm lessons. Life is good
