Voting is Your Responsibilty

Wanted to post the sticker of my I Voted Early sticker but it’s raining and internet doesn’t work well when it rains.  Never mind I’ll take the rain any day.

So on to my words of wisdom for today….  Please take the time to vote.  EVERY Vote counts!  You owe it the thousands who have died and served to keep that right sacred!

Don’t care who you vote for but exercise that right and take time out of your busy lives to cast the ballot for the people you think will best serve you.  This is our country and the only way it will stay that way is if you get involved.  The best way to get involved is to educate yourself on the issues and who will best represent you.  Your responsibility to yourself, your family and your country is to vote.

End of Rant – PLEASE VOTE

THANK YOU!

Prepping for Class

I have a wonderful group of new students that are meeting on a regular basis.  We had a class on Machine Basics to include threads, oiling, using our manuals (as far as I’m concerned the most important) needles, and tensions among other things.  The second class was about fabrics, rotary cutting, and free motion quilting.  It has been fun and I think everyone has learned a little something.  If you don’t have a good relationship with. your machine you won’t enjoy the sewing process whether you want to do clothing, home dec, quilting or fabric arts.

This week we will making bags and learn how to put in a zipper.  They can free motion the bag body and use the new skill from last class or just concentrate on putting in that zipper.  Amazed at how many people shy away from anything to do with a zipper when it’s really quite simple.

So learning to put in the zipper and how to make two styles of bags and adjusting the size to fit your needs,  These bags are addictive and I see some Christmas gifts in the future.  Come to think of it I need to order more zippers…..  Thank you Melissa from LuLu’s Craft Boutique and Party Studio, 906 New York Ave., Alamogordo, NM for use of the classroom.

Fall is in the Air

Fall is a wonderful time of year.  The high temperatures of the area have dropped a bit and although I love the heat,  I also hate to be cold so the temperatures right now are perfect.  The  trees in the mountains are changing color and fall decorations of orange, brown and yellow are everywhere.  In New Mexico you also know it’s fall when red chili are hung to dry and the air has the wonderful fragrance of roasting chili.

About this time one starts thinking of Christmas crafts and the cooler temperatures certainly make it easier to quilt in the evenings or finish bindings on the quilts made during the summer.  Making gifts is one of my favorite things to do and I’ve had my list done for some time.  Traveling during the summer months  always includes stops at local quilt shops to find that perfect fabric for gifts

Quilting classes are starting as everyone wants to make special gifts for special people. We will be making small bags for cosmetics or rotary cutters or pencils etc. in the next class.
